California Dreaming

I was lucky enough to spend 2 weeks in LA this Summer, as part of a one month tour of the West Coast with my best pals as a (soul destroyingly expensive) post-graduation treat to ourselves.

It was a trip we had all dreamt of doing since we were teenagers and after a very spontaneous decision to purchase flights halfway through a third year uni meltdown, it was confirmed, and we were about to embark on a trip of a lifetime. We flew from London Heathrow to LAX on July 23rd and returned to London a month later penniless, with twice the amount of luggage we went with and sporting some ridiculously brown faces.

It was a whirlwind of a journey, where we spent one week in LA exploring and then moved on to Laguna, Malibu, Santa Barbara, The Big Sur, Carmel, Yosemite, San Francisco, Las Vegas, San Diego and then finaaaally back to LA for the final week. It was without a doubt the best month of my life and after crashing back down to reality with a bang and having to spend my days searching for graduate jobs ever since, I've finally sat down and decided to document the trip before the memories soon start to fade. The thing with LA is, is that it is so worlds away from anywhere else (especially London), that it's really hard to imagine you were there standing on Venice beach, or strolling down Melrose Avenue, or standing underneath the Hollywood sign...just doing and seeing things which have become so iconic and have been in so many movies and television series.

So sitting here in my local Costa Coffee in London with a grey and and wet view out the window, it does feel extremely surreal to think that I was actually there in the infamous Los Angeles.

I will be doing a series of blog posts documenting my favourite places we visited, where we stayed, restaurant recommendations, must sees, planning tips and just general suggestions, which I hope will help anybody planning on doing a similar tour of the West Coast, or failing that, just give you guys the chance to have a bit of a nosey at what I got up to. I know I love seeing other peoples holiday and travel posts!

Either way, I hope you enjoy having a nosey at my holiday snaps and I warn you now, there's a hell of a lot of palm trees in there.

Please do let me know if there's any posts you'd like me to do relating to the trip!

xoxo
